IBOLC

Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course

IBOLC is an intensive 19 week course of instruction that provides the grueling, relentless training required to forge newly commissioned lieutenants into competent, adaptive Infantry Officers imbued with the Warrior Ethos and worthy of leading Infantry platoons in combat. Of the 19 weeks of training, roughly 15 are spent in the field refining marksmanship, honing fieldcraft, practicing battle drills, and endlessly ruck marching and executing missions. Not all who attempt IBOLC pass on their first attempt with some classes experiencing recycle rates reaching into the 40 - 50% range. Those who do pass earn the right to call themselves Infantry Officers and are granted the honor of donning the coveted blue cord.
